Gallery of Awesome

We see lots and lots of rigs on the road (and in parks, and at rest areas & truck stops), composing a rather colorful spectrum of RV possibilities.

Many make us jealous.

Lots cause a brow to go up.

Some defy explanation. Or logic. Or seemingly, physics.

All must be photographed, and I’ll keep track of them here, oldest to newest, locations given if I remember them, and kept deliberately vague to protect the owners’ privacy.

But hey, wave if you see yourself.

Just down the row from us here in Virginia Beach, this one prompted a text message to our son, who has actually built tiny homes! Note his enthusiastic response.

We're not sure why this fifth wheel was towed out of the park, but we were mightily impressed by how it was done!

I know it's not an RV, but how clever a name is that?

Jaw dropper in Salt Lake City. I was incapable of speech for several seconds, until a guy in a car swerved over to hop out and take a photo of this thing. And then I chuckled knowingly. It's not. just. me.
Total jaw-dropper in Salt Lake City. I was incapable of speech for several seconds, until a guy in a car swerved over, hopped out, and took a photo of this thing. And then just I chuckled knowingly. It’s not. just. meeee.
Spotted this portable tiny home in northern AZ. Check out the solar panels on the roof!

Look at this cute neighbor here in Amado, AZ! Yeah, I know. It’s a newer camper designed to look retro, but I bet I’m not the only one here who squeaks a little every time I see one.
These folks were parked near us in Quartzsite for a few days. I didn’t get a chance to talk to them, but a friend who did said their trailer — sustainable! — was made by this company, in Kirkland WA. **** UPDATE: They saw themselves and waved! A first! Check out Steven and Chelsea at Rootless Traveled to learn more about their adventures.****
Seen in San Antonio: It’s a truck! Or a van. Or a backwards 5th wheel. Or a… Dude. Can you tow that thing backwards?
Helllooooo, sweet bus of love beads, incense and reggae! (southwestern Virginia)
On the beach in Port Aransas, TX, I saw this… ummm… well, let’s just call it a multifunctional trailer, since it appears one could use it for a dwelling, surf shack, boat hauler and maybe even fish cleaning station, by my guess.
Blinding magnificence in San Antonio, TX
First reaction: How cute is that???
Second reaction (upon peering at sign next to window; see inset): Well. I guess any ho who can make her own camper is a ho I want to meet!

Saw this creature in Mesa, AZ, and thought it was some sort of custom job, but it turns out to be the latest in toy hauler design for 2019/2020.
Known as open cargo style, this is one of 5 such models made by Genesis Supreme RV.
